HFV in Acute Care

Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care environment

High Frequency Oscillation ventilation is the gentler option for the lungs.

HFO has much less pressure swing at any mean airway pressure than continuous mandatory ventilation (CMV), which greatly reduces physical injury to the pulmonary alveoli. It provides sufficient and sustained exchange of gas when the stroke volume is smaller than the anatomical dead space.

Japan is using the Metran Humming Vue piston technology for high-frequency oscillation ventilation in nearly 90% of neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) thanks to one of the world’s lowest perinatal mortality rates. The Humming Vue from Metran Co., Ltd., is the only true diaphragm-less piston-based high-frequency oscillatory ventilator on the market.

The Humming Vue is a controlled volume generating ventilator which produces a precise high frequency piston stroke volume (SV) thanks to the power of a powerful and precise stepper motor, which enables it to face patient’s resistance and compliance changes. The amplitude pressure (∆P) is a diagnostic tool again.

The piston is precisely controlled to within 13 microns on each stroke, allowing you to set stroke volume with resolution of 0.2ml. This precise control of amplitude enables effective PaCO2 management, which is critical when treating very small babies.

Intensive Care environment

High-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) is a valuable tool for anaesthetists. It offers unique advantages in a variety of clinical scenarios. This technique, characterised by the delivery of high-velocity gas bursts at frequencies significantly higher than conventional ventilation, has gained widespread recognition for its ability to maintain adequate ventilation during procedures involving the airway and surrounding structures.

The heart of HFJV is the principle of rapid gas exchange, achieved through the delivery of high-pressure gas pulses. This mechanism ensures efficient gas flow, oxygenation, and ventilation, even in the presence of partial airway obstruction. The Monsoon 4’s exceptional versatility stems from its ability to deliver a wide range of frequencies, ranging from 4 to 1600 breaths per minute.

We are proud to present the Monsoon 4, a state-of-the-art HFJV system that embodies the best of the technological advancement in this field. Created in collaboration with Thora Tech GmbH, a company deeply rooted in innovation and driven by a team of experienced professionals, the Monsoon 4 is the result of over a decade of research and development. Thora Tech’s experienced team has been providing technical expertise and application support for jet ventilation for 15 years. They continue the long and pioneering legacy of ACUTRONIC Monsoon, which is recognised as a founding pillar of modern jet ventilation for over 4 decades.
